New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) works to make New York City’s neighborhoods and economy stronger and more inclusive. We are working with the community to reimagine the armory as an economic asset and a space neighbors can enjoy. And that’s why NYCEDC is committed to being responsive to the needs of the Bronx by making the Kingsbridge Armory engagement process transparent and inclusive. For this project, NYCEDC has partnered with community engagement and urban design consultants Hester Street and WXY to facilitate the community engagement process.
For its part, Hester Street (HST) will lead the strategy and implementation of an inclusive and participatory engagement process that provides multiple opportunities for diverse Bronx residents to provide input on the Armory redevelopment. HST brings 20 years of experience leading community engagement processes across NYC, navigating conflicting interests and ensuring that trade-offs are discussed in community.
WXY will provide technical expertise to assess the building’s current conditions, recommend improvements, and communicate findings to the public. WXY is dedicated to working toward a healthy and sustainable future with the community in mind.
